All the World's a Stage, says William Shakespeare in “As You Like It”. He compares the world with a temporary stage and considers all the human beings merely the actors who have an entrance and an exit in this world and all play different roles in life. The idea is emphasized in the epic movie “Anand” too.
Taking this metaphor as an inspiration, I have depicted humans as puppets or Kathputlis on the stage of this world. Kathputli is a powerful form in traditional storytelling. Through this artwork, I am attempting to convey that we all are given a part to play by the string puller. How well we deliver on our part, is in our hands. The string puller decides when to start the story, and when to fold it up or to end our roles. Kathputli is our own story.
In this artwork, I have incorporated illustrations of figures from Godhna style in the background, and the kathputli are in bharni style.
