Sita appears in the Ramayana as the embodiment of nature. From her appearance in a field, to her dissolution in the folds of Mother Earth, she is the Prakriti personified. The forest trees and shrubs, the rivers, animals and birds, the fire in the hearth and the homa-kund are inseparable from her.

Just like nature, Sita is fearless strength, she is resolute, and she is unshakable from her virtues and in her sense of justice. The symbolism of Prakriti is unmistakable. Her life is out of the ordinary and unparalleled in comparison to a normal woman. She creates, she nurtures and heals and she extinguishes. She is the five elements - the Panchabhutas - Fire (Tejas), Water (Jal), Earth (Prithvi), Air (Vayu) and the space (Akash).

In this composition,  I have attempted to depict Sita as Prakriti, with the five elements as part of her being. She is shown as a compassionate and nurturing mother.

The side panels of the artwork present the Janaki stuti as sung by bhakt hanuman in the skandapuran, the Sita sharanagati from Anand ramayana and a verse from the Rig veda. Hanuman - vayu putra extols her as the destroyer of poverty and Sins, as the daughter of earth and embodiment of knowledge.

As her life is closely associated with nature, I have depicted her emergence from the earth where she is found by King Janak, her life in forest with Rama, her life in forest without Rama bringing up and nurturing her twins, and her return to earth.
